What does a dental check-up involve?
We check the health of your teeth and gums, clean tartar and take regular x-rays—using digital x-rays to reduce the amount of radiation—so that we can identify and fix problems early and prevent the need for more costly treatment. We also take the time to educate you on good oral health and, in particular, on topics that might be necessary or of interest to you, such as: flossing technique, diet and teeth grinding. We also check for dry mouth, which can be related to Sjorgen’s syndrome, lupus, diabetes and different medications. Saliva is an important natural defence against tooth decay and gum disease, something that needs to be detected and treated early.
